The UN Women TC Privacy Policy

The UN Women Training Centre Privacy Policy (“Policy”) was created to help you understand how UN Women uses information that is automatically collected from your computer and information you submit through the eLearning Campus (“Campus”). UN Women is committed to protecting your online privacy. By using this Campus, you agree to be legally bound by this Policy as it may be amended from time to time. If you do not agree to this Policy or cannot form a legally binding contract, you are not permitted to use this Campus.

Generally, if we collect information from you, we use it only for the purposes for which it was collected and the other limited purposes set forth below.

I. Information Collected

a) This Campus collects two types of information from you: (1) General Information; and (2) Personal Information.

(1) General Information:

As provided by the UN Women Privacy Policy, by accessing the Campus, certain information about you, such as Internet protocol (IP) addresses, navigation through the Site, the software used and the time spent, along with other similar information, will be stored on UN Women or United Nations and web analytics servers. This information will not specifically identify you. The information will be used internally only for website traffic analysis. UN Women assumes no responsibility for the security of this information.

(2) Personal Information:

UN Women may also collect personal information from you if you voluntarily submit such information by filling out a web form.

We seek the above information primarily to facilitate purchase of courses and to communicate with you about them.

b) UN Women may aggregate user statistics and disclose such aggregated user statistics (for example, “75% of our students come from X country”) to prospective donors and other third parties, as appropriate, to pursue and support UN Women’s mandate. Your identity will not be disclosed by these aggregated user statistics.

c) We may work with certain third parties to perform functions on our behalf, such as sending postal mail and email, removing repetitive information from donor lists, analyzing data, processing credit card payments and providing customer service. These third parties may have access to your personal information as needed to perform their functions, but they may not use it for any other purpose. However, UN Women and the United Nations assume no responsibility for the use practices of third parties.

II. Sharing

Subject to the above, we will not sell or disclose any of your personal information to a third party, except in the following limited circumstances:
– As set out in Section I. c) above.
– With your permission to disclose the information.
– To change hosts.
– To investigate, prevent or take action regarding activities in violation of the Campus Terms of Use.
– As required pursuant to the Charter of the United Nations or pursuant to resolutions or regulations of the General Assembly or rules promulgated thereunder.

III. Corrections/Updates

This Site Campus gives you the opportunity to change any information previously provided to us through this Site. To do so, please inform us by sending us an e-mail at paymentstc@unwomen.org.

IV. Children

The Campus does not knowingly collect any information from children. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s Internet usage and to help enforce this Policy. If a child provides us with information, the parent or legal guardian may notify us, and the information will be deleted from our records.

V. Security

We take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of your personal information. This Campus has security measures in place to protect loss, misuse, and/or alteration of such information under our control. However, we do not guarantee the security of your General or Personal Information. In addition, we do not assume any liability or responsibility for third party use of your General or Personal Information, whether obtained legally or illegally from or through this Campus.
